MITCHELL C. HOCHBERG

Mitchell C. Hochberg, Principal of Madden Real Estate Ventures, has more than 30 years of experience in every facet of real estate development and operations for residential, hospitality, commercial, gaming and mixed-use properties. Mr. Hochberg was founder of Spectrum Communities and served as its President and CEO for more than 20 years. He is widely recognized for transforming residential development in the Northeast by introducing the concept of lifestyle oriented residential neighborhoods. His vision shifted the paradigm by designing architecturally distinctive communities with a focus on lifestyle amenities. Under his leadership, Spectrum became the preeminent luxury residential builder in the Northeast, recording $2 billion in residential sales and winning numerous awards from the National Association of Homebuilders.

After selling Spectrum in 2004, he served as President and COO of Ian Schrager Company, which builds, manages, develops and markets innovative hotels and residences, continually reinventing the hospitality industry’s standard. Hotels developed by Schrager include the Gramercy Park Hotel, The Delano, Morgans, Royalton, Paramount and Hudson; and luxury residences 55 Gramercy Park North and 40 Bond Street, which combine luxury apartments and townhouses.

Mr. Hochberg is also partnering with Schrager and Marriot International Inc., in the roll out of Edition, the next-generation lifestyle boutique hotel concept and first truly global branded boutique hotel. Plans are to open 100 hotels worldwide within the next decade. Editions' first two properties in Waikiki and Istanbul have recently opened to critical acclaim.

Mr. Hochberg currently serves on the Board of Directors of Orient-Express Hotels Ltd., which owns and manages 50 highly acclaimed hotels, in 24 countries, including Hotel Cipriani in Venice; Ritz Madrid in Madrid; Grand Hotel Europe in St. Petersburg; and Copacabana Palace, in Rio de Janeiro. Orient-Express also owns restaurants, two river cruise operations and six luxury tourist operations. In addition to its hospitality operations, Orient-Express owns and develops residential projects — including The Estates at Keswick Hall in Virginia and La Samanna Villas in St. Martin.

He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Orleans Homebuilders, Inc., which develops, builds and sells single-family and townhouse products. Orleans serves a broad customer base, including first-time, move-up, luxury, empty-nester and active-adult homebuyers. The company, in business for more than 90 years, currently operates 79 active communities in 11 markets across eight states.

Mr. Hochberg is both an attorney and Certified Public Accountant. He received his law degree as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar from Columbia University School of Law.
